Holidaying in Tenby with limited Mobility

Pembrokeshire has some excellent facilities for those people holidaying with disabilities, limited mobility and other physical impairments but it is not always that easy trying to find out what you want to know.

Many people enquire about mobility scooters in Tenby and the surrounding areas. Although there is no scooter hire in Tenby town there is a group based in Haverfordwest called Pembrokeshire Frame which is run by the disabled to provide information, advice and support for the disabled, their families and carers. They hire out self-propelled and electric wheelchairs, scooters, beach wheelchairs and other disability aids and offer delivery for a small fee. They cater for locals as well as holidaymakers - perfect for your mobility scooter hire whilst in Pembrokeshire. An electric wheelchair is only £35 per week with a mobility scooter at £65 a week.

Once you have hired your scooter, check out the free on line guide to Scooting Around Pembrokeshire by clicking on the town you are interested in. This grades routes on difficulty, distance and safety. It can also be picked up at the Tourist Information centre for £2.50.

The government also have a very useful website which has access information regarding leisure facilities, tourist attractions, shops, beaches and much more: Pembrokeshire.gov.uk/access guide

If you are in a wheelchair and are worried about going on the beach you can (for a small fee) hire a beach wheelchair either from Kiln Park Holiday Park in Tenby or from the Saundersfoot Tourist Information Centre.

Finally, you might want to look at pembrokeshire-access.org.uk for more information to make your holiday as enjoyable as possible.
